Gig Of The Week: Cheap Trick

WHO: Cheap Trick

WHEN: Sunday, November 7

WHERE: Glasgow ABC

The legendary rockers from Rockford, Illinois make a welcome return for a four-date UK tour (see below for the rest of the shows). And guitarist Rick Nielsen has set fans going to the gig a challenge.

“Come up with song suggestions for the set. I’m serious. You tell us what you wanna hear and we’ll do our best to play them. It’s more fun that way, than having a strict set list you play every night. We recently did two gigs in the same city, and played 20 songs each night. We only repeated five of them.”

A confirmed Anglophile (“I’ve been thinking of moving over here for years, although I’ll probably never actually do it”),  Nielsen is looking forward to playing again over here. And he’s fully committed to doing what you wanna hear.

“We must have about 300 songs worked up and ready to go. We can do anything in our catalogue. But don’t ask us to do everything we know. Otherwise we’ll be onstage for three months! That sort of thing is best left to Bruce Springsteen.”

The rest of the tour takes in:

Nov. 8: Wolverhampton Wulfrun Hall

Nov. 11: Manchester Academy 2

Nov. 12: London Shepherds Bush Empire

The band – also featuring vocalist Robin Zander, bassist Tom Petersson and drummer Bun E. Carlos – are also set to play at the Classic Rock Awards on November 10, happening at The Roundhouse.

So, if there are any songs from their vast repertoire you’d like to hear Cheap Trick play at any of the dates, fill them in below and we’ll get these to the band.
