Gig Of The Week: American Express @ Symphony At The Park
WHO: American Express @ Symphony At The Park
WHERE: London Chiswick House And Gardens
WHEN: Saturday, August 20/Sunday, August 21
Abbey Road Studios, probably the most iconic recording studios in the world, has its 80s anniversary this year. And Symphony At The Park is one of the events staged to help celebrate this landmark occasion.
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, together with the 40-strong Crouch End Chorus, will be performing music recorded through the years at Abbey Road. On the first day, this is to be classic rock anthems from the likes of the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Hollies, Radiohead and Kate Bush. Highlights are a re-scoring of the Floyd’s Time by Killing Joke’s Jaz Coleman and Radiohead’s High And Dry.
The second day is given over to movie music from the likes of Star Wars, Raiders Of The Lost Ark and 2001: A Space Odyssey.
On both days, the gates open at 5.30pm, with the performance lasting from 7.15-10pm.
Something a little different for a late summer’s evening.
