Gig Of The Week
Every week the Classic Rock website recommends a forthcoming gig for you to check out. Come inside to find out more…
BANDS: Dream Theater, Opeth, Bigelf and Unexpect (Progressive Nation Tour)
WHERE: Manchester Apollo
WHEN: October 9
The first of three shows on the eagerly anticipated UK leg of the ongoing Euro Progressive Nation tour; the others are at Wembley Arena on October 10, and the Glasgow SECC the next night. A chance to appreciate the breadth, diversity and cutting edge of the current progressive music scene, with each of these four bands representing a different strand of the genre.
Unquestionably, the band most people are looking forward to seeing are Bigelf. Their new album, Cheat The Gallows (released by Powerage Records), has been getting a massively positive reaction. And vocalist/keyboard player Damon Fox is enjoying every minute on the tour, which has just started in Europe:
“The Progressive Nation line-up is killer, and I’m watching my fellow proggians every night! Here’s my view of the bands:
“Unexpect: Post-apocalyptic-folk-death metal, amazing!
“Bigelf: Nice lovely lads. Ha!
“Opeth: So glad they’re on the bill. Fuckking heavy AND psychedelic, love it!
“Dream Theater: Well, what can be said about DT…they’re the masters. I watched 21 out of 27 shows on the US tour! The whole evening is a nightmare to remember!”
There are still a few tickets left for each of the three shows, but you’d better get in fast.
