Genesis Understand Gabriel’s Absence From Hall Of Fame

Genesis are not taking Peter Gabriel’s absence from the band’s induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame as a snub.Keyboard player Tony Banks told Billboard: “(Gabriel) rang up and said, ‘Look, everyone’s going to say I’m trying to snub you and all the rest of it’. I said, ‘Well, just tell them we didn’t want you to come, so we’re snubbing you!’.
“No…I mean, it’s a fair enough thing. It would’ve been lovely if he could’ve come, but I understand his problem.”
Gabriel will miss the ceremony in New York on March 15, because he’s currently in rehearsals for his upcoming solo tour.
You’re telling me Gabriel can’t take a couple of days off from rehearsals for a once-in-a-lifetime event like this?

Yes, agree. Genesis will only be inducted this one time. Obviously it’s not that important to Mr Gabriel. In fact, if Genesis was even on his radar the full reunion would have happened by now, but it hasn’t.
Gabriel seems to have a major hang up now about ever being in Genesis..yes its a snub.
Typicallly, the core Genesis remain gentlemen and are gracious in this snub. This is truly Gabriel’s weak attempts to upstage their 20+ years of success without him by his absence. These talented gentlemen who, by the way, were quick to run to Gabriel’s rescue when he was financially buried from WOMAD. Gabriel – get over thyself. Kudos, Genesis.
Much agreed with Jake. If you get nominated for the rock n roll hall of fame, you find a way to get your ass there! The rehearsal shit just doesnt rub with me. Im sure he and his band already know how to play sledgehammer and big time.
I don’t agree with his reasons, but I can understand why he isn’t going to show. For Years he was the face of Genesis and when he left he wanted them to do well. Well, truth is they did very well. It is what it is, and if he wants to show, he will. Same as with Metallica and Dave Mustane, and VH with Roth, Hagar and Anthony
Ahhh Peter…shame on you man. Shame on me for listening to your music in my early teens. You are 60 dude…you left Genesis in 75…get over it and get over yourself. Good luck on your new lame cover cd with no guitars or drums. Yea, you think your material is on the cutting edge, but honestly you became lame and the Uncle Fester look doesn’t help. Way to be Genesis…(minus Gabriel)

I think the initial telephone conversation between Tony & Pete is the key to this.
Two long term friends both comfortable and trusting of each other to talking honestly and frankly.(also able to perceive how things ‘look’!)
Watch this space with Genesis because I feel all the people upset by this supposed ’snub’ will live to see the proper 2nd coming of Genesis,revealing the true nature of their long term friendship & affection for each other.
