Genesis, one of the originators of prog-rock, have packaged together all their live albums with a host of extras for a box-set to be release on September 14th.
The box-set entitled ‘Genesis Live 1973-2007′ includes their albums ‘Genesis Live’, ‘Seconds Out’, ‘Three Sides Live’ and ‘The Way We Walk’. Also featured will be ‘Live At The Rainbow 1973’ which is only available with the set.
The other albums will also feature bonus tracks not included on the original releases and will be available in 5.1 surround sound for the first time.
Get ready to do that silly walk-come-dance thing across your lounge once again.

I and many Genesis fans are quite unhappy. It seems Three Sides Live won’t be in DVD-A format. Neither will the combines The Way We Walk Live [Shorts & Longs]. Not much in any extras either aside from the Rainbow show. Three Sides Live is the European release with the 4th side lice [not the 5 track studio side for North America].
I feel cheated that we’ve to buy all the others again just to get Live At The Rainbow.
Yep, I am full of mixed emotions too. I waited for this box since I heard they were starting to bring their repertoire on SACD. The other boxes are great (even the 80s/90s box), but the live box would be just superb. Just imagine, seconds out and three sides live on multichannel SACD, I thought. Woooohaaaaa!
Now I find out that NOTHING is on SACD and only Live, TRS and seconds out will be out in multi channel. I can only hope that this will at least be DTS 24/96 and not the crappy movie format.
Bit of a bummer. I already have three sides live in the original version, both american and UK versions, as well as the remastered UK version. The ubiquitous 80s and 90s hits were not for me anyway (Duke excepted of course, which rocks). Why should I buy another remastered redbook version that I already own twice. What has happened since 1993? Nothing. That is, MULTICHANNEL SACD HAS HAPPENED!!!
Anyway. Will probably buy the box anyhow. TRS and booklets with photos are great, and I would already buy the box for seconds out in multichannel alone. If only it were on SACD……sigh
Live at the rainbow is already out there on the various mp3 sites, its really the TLLDOB tracks that are the bonus.
