Gabriel Rules Out Genesis Hall Of Fame Reunion

Peter Gabriel has no intention of performing with Genesis when the band are inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in March.

Talking to Rolling Stone, Gabriel says:

“As far as I know, I’m definitely not going to sing. I learned at our last reunion [in 1982] that you can’t just get up there. You have to rehearse.”

There’s also a real chance the frontman won’t even be at the ceremony on March 15, in New York, because he’s busy rehearsing for his own tour.

However, there is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel for those keen to see a reunion of Genesis with Gabriel.

Apparently, there are plans to turn their classic 1974 album The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway into a movie.

If that happens, then Gabriel isn’t ruling out getting involved.

“We might work together,” he says. “We’ll see.”

I absolutely love Gabriel-era Genesis, but lets face it, he’s a right boring bastard!

Gabriel is such a spoil sport. Someone needs to tell him your a long time dead!

Why is it whenever the question of Peter doing something with Genesis again he always comes up with some excuse. I mean people are not expecting to see them doing a three hour epic set, just a couple of tunes. I bet Steve Hackett wouldn’t say no to it.

Steve Hackett wants to participate in the Genesis Hall of Fame Reunion so perhaps the classic line-up minus Gabriel will still do it. As much as I like Peter Gabriel I’m very disappointed in his decision. He always has some excuse and basically this fan is fed up with him.

Peter,

Get off your high horse. Didn’t the boys help bail you out in 82 at the WOMAD festival.
No oneis expecting Supper’s Ready but maybe one small tune with Mr. Hackett, Banks, Rutherford and Collins would be nice for the fans.

PG should remember who his band mates were when they started out and take this opportunity to be remember in the hall of fame, there’s many who would give anything to be in his position.
Ps how lovely to be too busy

i think peter has general fears that it would look a bit dated and not relevant, what he may not realise is that if the classic line up played again it would generate as much interest as the led zep reunion, you sometimes wonder what planet they live on when they could quite easily play together again and give a lot of people a lot of pleasure, how horrible could it be for them to be on stage again.if nobody ever bought there products or went to the shows they wouldnt be very rich men now,its not much to ask really.

Gabriel is bang on, admire the geezer for his principles innit.

The day he turns up at the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame, and the chances of the Lamb movie happening, are about as likely as my mum’s bathroom being renovated – i.e.none!

No-one is a bigger fan of Gabriel-era Genesis than I am. Peter, just shed twenty or so kilos and put on a jock strap and give it all you got, mate! It would be better than nothing!!! And just play everything down a half-step. Nobody would know!!

Who cares!

Peter Gabriel always was a little on the stuck up side. Ok, a LOT on the stuck up side…
