Former Purple, Rainbow Tour Manager Tells All

Colin Hart, former Deep Purple and Rainbow tour manager, is to publish his autobiography early next year.

Called Hart Of The Purple Rainbow, it’s been co-written with old friend Dick Allix, once drummer with 60s band Vanity Fare.

It’s be published by Wymer Books and is described as ‘a tale of excess in terms of greed, petulance, anger and devotion… counter-balanced by extremes of pure talent, showmanship  and, of course musicianship.

‘Hart was the constant “man in the middle” through all of the break ups, make-ups and revolving door line-up changes.’

Sounds like the usual rock’n'roll story, then.

Not quite the usual. You’ll find less drugs here than in most similar biogs, but probably more fights and rows! Anyway, this should be one great read…

I want to know the real story behing the famous Blackmore/Gillan Spaghetti Incident. Can’t wait for this book.

Hopefully we will be mentioned in the book Colin….just kidding. I’m glad to hear that you are still alive. Someone told me that you died from a heart attack several years ago.

I have cancer right now and I felt so sorry after hearing that. My sister and I have been trying to locate Chris, Jackie and the gang. If you know where they are at can you please give them my email address.

My sister and I live in a Highrise several blocks away from the House of Blues. Next time your hear I will make you and your wife dinner. You don’t have to worry about it being bad because I went to Le Cordon Bleu and became a Chef prior to finding out that I had Ovarian Cancer.

Miss the old days,

Debbie

PS. I still remember you standing by the dressing room doors chewing gum. It’s a picture that will not leave my memories. You were responsible for getting us into the Speakeasy club.
