Focus Song Gets World Cup Boost
What’s the betting that Focus, the veteran Dutch proggers, will have a summer hit single their hands? That’s the real possibility now that their 1971 classic Hocus Pocus is being used in a high-profile TV advertisement.
The ad is the new one from Nike. Called Write The Future, it’s been put together for the World Cup and is set to become one of the most talked-about commercials of the tournament, featuring as it does a plethora of big names – including Homer Simpson.
Hocus Pocus, which got to No.20 in the UK singles charts, is heard throughout. So don’t bet against a massive surge of interest in the yodeling-led song, as the Focus prepare to play at Classic Rock‘s High Voltage Festival.
