The Flaming Lips have completely re-recorded Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon album.
The band are just about to put out new album Embyronic – and the Dark Side Of The Moon project will be their next release.
Talking to the LA Time about this covers album, Lips mainman Wayne Coyne said: “Parts of the original album will stay, some parts will go and new parts will be added. It’s kind of redone in the way a city is redone. There’s some great old structures you never want to tear down, and you take chances next to it and you build a new futuristic museum. I would never want people to think that if you saw us three years ago, what we’re doing now has nothing to do with that.”

Who’re they to say what goes and what stays in DSOTM?
If there was one album that didn’t need re-recording…
pink floyd are awesome the song the great gig in the sky is my favorite
That takes a lot of nuts. Some cities do not need to be rebuilt, boys, but I admire your moxie.
I guess the Flaming Lips must have run out of ideas of their own….
Still, they could be onto something. I am now thinking of covering the first four Zeppelin albums on a kazoo.
What a waste of time – utterly pointless.
i dug the reggae version, “dub side of the moon”.
pointless waste of time and effort
the flamings lips – wtf? they should not be mentioned in the same breath as pink floyd – this is sacriledge i cant believe the floyd are allowing this
shite band. and the word ‘why’ comes to mind
