Eric Clapton reveals Slowhand anniversary release

Eric Clapton will mark the 35th anniversary of his iconic Slowhand album with a re-release edition in deluxe and super-deluxe formats.

The 1977 album included the tracks Wonderful Tonight, Lay Down Sally and Cocaine, which still feature in his live performances today. It spent over a year in the charts and was the most successful of Clapton’s 70s releases.

Both re-release versions include four sessions outtakes, of which three have never seen light of day.

Each edition includes a live recording at London’s Hammersmith Odeon in April 1977, just a week before album recording commenced, with the deluxe version carrying nine tracks and the super-deluxe 14.

In total, five formats of Slowhand: 25th Anniversary are available, and will be released on November 26.

Slowhand remastered from the original Olympic Studios 1/4″ flat analog master tapes, plus four album session outtakes. The unreleased tracks have been newly mixed from the original Olympic Studios 2″ analog masters by Kevin Reeves at Sterling Sound.
