Enuff Z'Nuff, Faster Pussycat Set To Tour UK

Words: Dave Ling

Enuff Z’Nuff and Faster Pussycat are to play a UK tour in January and February, with an as-yet unannounced third act to join them on the bill.

Chicago-based retro-rockers Enuff Z’Nuff will be back to full strength with the return of lead singer Donnie Vie, having spent a long period of time touring as a three-piece. Vie and Enuff Z’Nuff reunited for the pilot edition of VH1’s reality TV show Bands On The Run back in 2006, which eventually failed to make the screens.

“But it gave us the ammunition to make a new record – our 18th, believe it or not,” bassist Chip Z’Nuff tells Classic Rock.

Featuring former Ozzy Osbourne/Badlands man Jake E Lee on guitar (“Jake was only supposed to play on one song but ended up doing the whole record”, chuckles Chip), Dissonance (as it’s called) is only available in Japan right now, though it seems likely to gain a UK release during the coming months.

“We’ve toured in the United States with Faster Pussycat before, but this will be the first time in Europe,” comments Z’Nuff. “And let me warn you, we anticipate this tour being particularly wild; the whole ’80s thing is coming back.

“We’ll probably flip-flop who goes on last each night. Enuff Z’Nuff recently played Japan which went so amazingly well that there’s going to be a live record next summer. Honest to God, we were playing between 25 and 30 songs a night. The won’t let us play that long in Europe, but we’ll probably get through 15-20 tunes – from the earliest days right through to the present.”

Z’Nuff, who has also been touring as a member of former Guns N’ Roses drummer Seven Adler’s band, Adler’s Appetite, and recently finished the recording of that group’s new five-song EP, has one further surprise.

“I think I’m gonna bring Steven with me on this tour – he can get up and do a couple of songs with us every night. How much of a treat would that be?”

No, the 80’s thing is not coming back, no matter how much bands like this want it to. I love shitloads of 80’s bands but seeing them now is nothing but nostalgia and although it can make up for a great gig, I find it pathetic that bands don’t see it as nostalgia and think they’re still relevant. Too many bands I loved have sullied themselves by doing it. Skid Row, I’m looking at you.
