Last Elvis gig films up for auction
Video footage of Elvis Presley’s last two recorded shows is up for auction.
The five tapes of original vision and sound were shot in Omaha, Nebraska, on June 19, 1977, and in Rapid City, South Dakota, on June 21. The King performed his last-ever concert on June 26 and died on August 16 the same year.
Nearly three and a half hours of video is up for sale, including performance footage of 27 songs plus backstage scenes. Presley is seen with his girlfriend, Ginger Alden, and his father, Vernon.
He’s also seen being presented with the Full Circle Medallion Of Life by the Sioux Indian Reservation, and with an inscribed plaque by the mayor of Rapid City.
Auction organisers say: “This footage demonstrates The King is clearly in command on stage, and mesmerises the audience with his vocal dynamics, spanning nearly four octaves.”
The sale takes place on July 26 and 27 in Santa Monica, California.
