ELP Headline Classic Rock's High Voltage Festival

Emerson Lake And Palmer will headline the High Voltage Festival, the UK’s new flagship classic rock event, on Sunday, July 25, 2010.

The launch of the High Voltage Festival was announced by Classic Rock’s Editor In Chief, Scott Rowley, at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour at London’s Park Lane Hotel this past Monday (November 2).

The High Voltage Festival is a joint venture between Classic Rock magazine and The Mean Fiddler organisation.

Forty years after ELP opened the legendary Isle Of Wight Festival, what better band to celebrate what will surely become Britain’s biggest and best ‘adult rock’ festival?

According to ELP, fans can expect “cannons, pyrotechnics and a supreme production alongside the stunning musicinship and songs that made ELP the legends they truly are”.

Stay tuned to the Classic Rock website for further information and ticket details.

when and where are tickets for sale?

Maybe this time it will work out for ELP.
They are at their best when they come together as a orchestra of 3.
Look at Karn Evil, Pirates, Memoirs of a Officer and A Gentleman… it demanded the very best talents of all three Band members and the results were stunning.
This is probably the last chance to “carpe diem”.
More than the fans… they owe it to themselves!

chris chaplin

Wow, ELP back (in UK) at last!!

Will be so good (if they don’t fall out beforehand & Keiths’ hand is OK).

Would be wonderful to see them live and maybe have some new material performed as well (us long-term fans in Progland have waited so long for fresh tracks).

Keith, Greg & Carl – The ‘faithful many’ await a truly great performance – we know incredible you chaps can be.

Ridiculous ticket prices may ruin all this though.

Best Regards

I was at ELP’s debut gig in the US on April 21, 1971 at Theil College in Greenville, Pennsylvania. There were less than 1000 people there and the power to ELP’s equipment failed 2 or 3 times early in the show.

Someone must have put pennies in the fuse boxes to solve the problem… once then did, ELP blew the roof off of the place.

I’ve been a life long ELP fan ever since.

ROLL ON JULY 2010

Got my Sunday ticket today but I’m fully prepared for ELP to pull out. Keith Emerson cancelled all his dates this year including two nights at Ronnie Scotts which I had booked for, due to his ongoing hand problems. It’s a sad thing for such a virtuoso to be stopped from doing what he loves because of health issues and we can only pray that the situation improves over the next few months. The fact that there is nothing about High Voltage on Keith’s website (which is usually pretty up to date) worries me too. Sorry to put a dampener on things!! Let’s hope the show really will never end.

any idea the capacity of this event? 20,000? 30,000? 40,000?

nigel harris

…ELP<ARGENT ETC…it will be a right good day out…no naff djs or computer music!!!!! The big ones are back!!!
