Looking back over your shoulder…
You Me At Six were delighted to be asked to headline a festival stage for the first time in their career – but felt a certain amount of split loyalty because of the timing.
Josh Franceschi: We’re playing at the same time as Metallica. I know some of us would like to be watching that. It’s a difficult one – but the fact we’ve been asked to headline is amazing.
At least one other gigger found himself in a similar quandary, but for a completely different reason.
@tyronej1984: Feeling obliged to watch Trivium on stage as they follow me on Twitter.
Things are going well for YMAS, but guitarist Matt Helyer says they can handle the pressure that comes with increased success.
Matt Helyer: It definitely applies some pressure right now because you’ve got to follow up. But we’ve all got it into our minds that we want to achieve more. We’ve got a lot of places we can go with our music right now, we’ve kind of left it open to be a bit of a surprise.
Hair of the dog…
Trivium bassist Paolo Gregoletto recently had a conversation with fans on how to deal with the morning after.
Paolo Gregoletto: So we all got shitfaced last night. What’s your favourite hangover remedy?
Some of the answers: A dark room, coffee and curry; puking; vanilla ice cream; coconut water and jalepeno poppers or sushi; a fried breakfast along with a mouthful of whatever you had last night; inhale air into your stomach to make an air bubble, then exhale, making yourself burp – and watch your stomach empty before your very eyes; sitting in a kitty pool in an alligator floaty with sunglasses; get a hot cup of coffee and drink in a store’s deep freeze; rollmpos (rolled pickled herring).
Paulo may have need of that assistance tomorrow. He certainly seems to have been in a party mood at the close of the show, going by his tweet:
@TriviumPaolo Proud to say Metallica is my favorite band. #metal #DL2012
Earlier bandmate Corey Beaulieu discussed the recent job slashes at their label, Roadrunner Records.
Corey Beaulieu: Roadrunner is just legendary, but the people that work there are incredible. If it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t be playing to 60,000 people today, so we definitely wanted to make sure this set was dedicated to them. They definitely have made us who we are here.
