Download Adds 20 Bands
This summer’s Download festival has beefed up its line-up by adding 20 bands.
The additional acts join previously announced headliners Linkin Park and System Of A Down, together with Rob Zombie and Avenged Sevenfold.
Download takes place June 10-12 at Donington Park. A third headliner is still to be confirmed – however, we understand it will likely be a Classic Rock-friendly band.
The 20 extra bands are as follows:
Alice Cooper – “2011 is going to be a bucketlist year for me… induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, reuniting with Bob Ezrin for a great project and now getting to play Donington – the spiritual home of UK rock. Can’t wait,” says Alice.
Alter Bridge – “Download is always one of the highlights of our touring season. Playing Download over the years has helped us to expose our music to many new fans in the UK and we are honoured to be invited back again,” says guitarist Mark Tremonti.
Buckcherry – “Download is always an incredible experience for this band. It’s an honour to be invited back,” says guitarist Keith Nelson.
The Gaslight Anthem – “One thing I’m really excited about is being invited to play Download this year! This is gonna be a highlight in 2011 for The Gaslight Anthem for sure!” says frontman Brian Fallon.
Mr Big – “I went to the Monsters Of Rock at Castle Donington raceway in 1984 as a fan. Somehow I finagled my way up on stage to catch Van Halen’s powerful set. My first thought as I watched David lee Roth struttin’ and screamin’ his lungs out to the biggest crowd I had ever seen: ‘Man, I wish that was me.’ So what if it took 27 years? I made it,” says frontman Eric Martin.
Thin Lizzy –“Download? Sorry, don’t do that, I prefer buying CDs. Oh… the festival. Wow! Heard it’s the best and looking forward to it so much after what’s been an amazing UK tour for us. See you all in June,” says guitarist Scott Gorham.
