Don't Tell Sharon, But…

…Former Black Sabbath frontman Tony ‘Cat’ Martin will be touring the US this summer under the moniker Headless Cross – in celebration of the 20th anniversary release of the Black Sabbath album of the same name.

Martin’s band will feature the splendidly named Rolf Munkees on guitars, Jamie Mallender on bass, Danny Needham on drums and Geoff Nicholls (Black Sabbath) on keyboards.

Says Martin: “The band is gonna have an advertising tag of Headless Cross. The idea is to commemorate 20 years since Headless Cross and I can reveal that some of the songs have never been done live before like Black Moon; it’s a really complex track but we’re gonna bring it to the stage and show it off. Also we’ve just left behind the anniversary of Eternal Idol, so there’s gonna be some more off that album too like Born To Lose.”

Good luck to him. Sabbath did some great stuff with Tony which might have been appreciated more if it didn’t bear the name Black Sabbath. Hey, how about making Headless Cross support on the Heaven & Hell tour???? Shame it won’t happen cos I’d pay to see that!

What a great album, great songs and performances , up there with the best Sabbath have ever done, and Tony Martins range!

the album is an overlooked classic and the last great sabbath album in my opinion.tony martin is way too good a talent to be left out of the current music scene.just make sure you bring the headless cross to all the uk and not just down in london!!!!!!!!!!

Wait a minute Tony Martins gonna use the headless cross moniker.Ronnie Dios using the Heaven and Hell moniker. If Ian Gillans got any intentions of using the Born Again moniker then i’m gonna “Run to the Hills“….which gives me an idea…….Bruce!!!!

Tony Martin time in Black Sabbath was pretty kick ass, I just started listening to those albums again recently and there great! What were we thinking back in those day? I guess there was to much Metal at that time and got lost in the shuffel. And they did release one song that kind of sucked ass, that one with ice-t rapping on it,why???

I’m sure I went to see an impressive British thrash outfit called Headless Cross a few years ago. Nothing to do with Sabbath, but they were very good. Would be a shame if the use of the name meant they’d be overlooked.

I never rated Tony Martin and Headless Cross,
but in 1990 TYR was released and it’s a bloody good album. It was a concept album about vikings, valhalla and more. Well ahead of it’s time seeing as there are loads of viking bands around nowadays.
