Def Lep still aim to surprise in Vegas
Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott has admitted the band have their work cut out trying to surprise fans during their Las Vegas residency.
The band is midway through a series of shows at the Hard Rock Hotel And Casino, where they’re performing classic album Hysteria in full.
And Elliott accepts that means most people think they know what they’re going to get during the evening.
In the video below, showing scenes from Def Lep’s final rehearsal, he tells Fuse: “Once we start Hysteria everyone knows what they’re going to get. So we have to make a conscious effort, knowing they don’t know what they’re going to get for the first half of the show.
“With eleven performances we can do literally eleven different sets. We’re going deep – the first album, which we don’t visit too often; a couple of tracks from High And Dry which haven’t been played in years, or have never been played.”
As guitarist Phil Collen proudly proclaims the show has come in under budget, Elliott hints at his costume plans: “I’m not going to have a mullet and ripped jeans. It’s Vegas – I’m going all Elvis on your ass…”
