Def Leppard Deny Rumours Of Spat With Poison
Phil Collen and Vivien Campbell of Def Leppard are now denying rumours of a spat with Poison, after it was announced earlier this week that the two bands will tour the US this summer. Get your Download tickets!Def Leppard and Poison had previously been at loggerheads after Joe Elliott made comments at a Swedish press conference. These quotes have been dismissed by Phil Collen, who now says: “I was sitting right there and didn’t see anything wrong with it.”
Collen continued to talk about Def Leppard’s standing in 2009, saying: “We sing better, we sound better, we look and feel better, our progression is perfect. It’s harder to get us on Top 40 these days, because, let’s face it, youth is king. Taylor Swift, Rihanna… they’re under 20 years old. But when someone says, ‘I made love for the first time to Love Bites, or ‘I got a hand job to Pour Some Sugar on Me, that’s great! As long as you make an impact any which way.”
Adds Guitarist Vivien Campbell, “Lots of younger people, they’re seeing and hearing it for the first time, so there’s also that energy and we feed off it. We may be playing ‘Photograph’ for the three-millionth time, but you’re still playing it to that audience that night for the first time ever. That’s always a joy.”
Def Leppard will headline the last night of this year’s Download festival and will also play a Dublin show with Whitesnake and Journey.
Download will take place on June 12th – 14th at Donington and will feature sets from Faith No More, Slipknot, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, The Prodigy, Limp Bizkit, Motley Crue, Marilyn Manson, Korn, ZZ Top and many, many more.
