Deep Purple: Two More Reissues

Deep Purple are to have two more albums reissued by EMI on October 25.
The first is Come Taste The Band, the sole studio album from the MKIV line-up and originally put out in 1975. This has been expanded to feature not only the original album, but a remix from Kevin Shirley and previously unreleased tracks from that period.
The other is the compilation Deepest Purple, which was first issued in 1980. This has been expanded to include both Hush and Soldier Of Fortune, plus a DVD with TV clips and a track-by-track guide with Jon Lord.

Excellent. Hope there’s a studio take of Bolin’s brilliant Wild Dogs. I think the slightly muted response to this great album at the time was that Mk.3 had only made two albums, the second of which was still being assimilated after Blackmore’s departure. If Burn and Stormbringer were Mk.3’s “In Rock” and “Fireball”, their “Machine Head” never happened. So TB’s and GH’s funk and antics get blamed for the band’s demise a bit too much. Just a theory.

I agree, excellent album. Too far away from Mark 2 for a lot of Purp fans I guess. Listen without prejudice though and it is a belter. Shame that the subsequent tour played into the hands of those who doubted the bands abilities. Sorry for the George Michael reference!

Forgot to add, can’t see the point of the second one, especially as it won’t have anything off the last (true) album and was always mark 2 biased. not giving a balanced take on DP.
