Deep Purple have released a teaser video offering nearly two minutes of music from their upcoming album.
They haven’t revealed its name, referring to it simply as “?!” – but it’s due out in April and features the long-standing lineup of Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Don Airey, Steve Morse and Ian Paice.
Bassist Glover says of the new music: “It doesn’t really come from the head; it comes from everything. It’s what feels good. It’s very difficult to define what a Deep Purple song is. It’s what we do – we write the rules.”
Frontman Gillan last year told Classic Rock: “There’s a big question mark over the name at the moment. And possibly an exclamation mark as well. That’s all I’m allowed to say.”
The record, their 19th, follows 2005′s Rapture Of The Deep. Record label earMUSIC say the album is “rumoured to be the perfect match with the original spirit of 70s Purple, and a fresh and modern production.”
