Creedence Clearwater Revival: London DVD On The Way?

There’s unreleased footage of Creedence Clearwater Revival playing in London’s Royal Albert Hall 40 years ago – and the band would love to see this put out on DVD.

Talking exclusively to Classic Rock, bassist Stu Cook says: “The whole of one of our two shows at the venue (in April 1970) was filmed, and it’s sitting in the vaults. Every year we get closer to the release, inch by inch. Mind you, now that the era of DVDs seems to be over, perhaps we’ve missed the boat!

“That footage will bring back some great memories of our trip over there. Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney even turned up – two of our heroes!”

However, don’t hold your breath for a CCR reunion. Nearly 40 years after their acrimonious split, there seems to be sign of any rapprochement between singer/guitarist John Fogerty on the one hand and Cook/drummer Doug Clifford on the other (rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty died from AIDS in 1990).

“There is no relationship between us at all, and that’s not a situation likely to change.”

There will be – much more – on Creedence Clearwater Revival and the Cook/Clifford-led Creedence Clearwater Revisited soon.

The DVD era isn’t over by a long shot. Led Zeppelin recently released live footage of a gig at The Royal Albert Hall from 1970 & it is breathtaking stuff. In what other format can we all enjoy classic footage of CCR at the same venue in their prime? Everyone has DVD players these days, so get it released on DVD & the sooner the better.
