Feathered Freddie: he would've been 66 on Wednesday
This is one of the strangest sentences we’re ever had to write, but here goes… Freddie Mercury, the late Queen frontman, has become an honorary member of the Angry Birds family. (Then again, Freddie always was a bit – make that a lot – of a peacock, wasn’t he?)
Ahead of Mercury’s birthday on September 5 (he would’ve been 66 years old if he’d lived) the creators of Angry Birds have released an all-new animation of Freddie The Angry Bird riding his bicycle to the Queen track Bicycle Race.
This is in conjunction with the 2012 Freddie For A Day frivolities, which are intended to raise funds for the Mercury Phoneix Trust to support the work fighting HIV AIDS worldwide.
Today (September 3) sees a special Freddie For A Day fundraising evening at London’s Savoy Hotel, hosted by Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor.
