Best Film/DVD Award
Motörhead cancelled last night’s show in Bristol thanks to an injury to your left hand. How are you feeling?
Lemmy: I’ve been better. Look at that [shows a nasty furrow-type wound to his fingertip].
How did you do it? Somebody said you fell over.
No, that’s rubbish. I did it on my guitar. I never fall over.
Will the rest of the tour be alright?
I don’t know. I hope I’ll be able to do Hammersmith [on Saturday], but the cut is right where the string makes contact. I tried to play last night and couldn’t do it.
War wounds apart, are you having a good evening?
Yeah, there are so many people that I don’t see on a regular basis. I’ve been talking to Roger Glover. He’s a great guy. Brian May’s here, too.
Considering you went into the Lemmy movie with a sense of reluctance, you must now be considering it a good judgement call?
I wouldn’t say I was reluctant…
Well… cautious, then?
Not even that; I just didn’t know what to think. I just wasn’t that impressed with the idea. But then the two geezers [filmmakers Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski] told me what they had in mind, and although there were times when I had to ask for some changes they went ahead and did what they said.
Do you think that people now have a better understanding of who Lemmy is?
No. Because I was lying all the way through.
Is there anyone you’d like to dedicate the award to?
Yeah, my son Paul [Inder].
And to Würzel?
Yeah, to everyone that’s been in Motörhead. But especially to Würzel.
And do you have a message for the readers that voted for you in this category?
It’s beyond words, really. At times like this you feel like you did something right. For years we were told we were doing it wrong, but we said ‘fuck you’ enough times that now it seems we were right all along.
