Confident Asia Hail Anniversary Release
Original line-up mark 30 years since their first album with nine-track disc and insist: ‘If you loved us then you’ll love us now.”
Asia bassist and lead vocalist John Wetton says the original line-up are “pleased with and confident about” their 30th anniversary album, XXX, due at the end of June.
It’s the third studio outing since Wetton, guitarist Steve Howe, drummer Carl Palmer and keyboardist Geoff Downes reunited in 2006, and marks three decades since their groundbreaking single-stacked self-titled release in 1982.
Pronounced “Triple X”, the nine-track record will also be available in a special edition 11-track format with bonus DVD. The release boasts brand-new artwork from celebrated artist Roger Dean.
The lead single, Face On The Bridge, will be available worldwide on May 14. See the video below.
Wetton says: “XXX encapsulates, lyrically and instrumentally, the band today. It’s the very same four people who gave you the original, iconic album 30 years ago – if you loved it then, you’ll love it now.”
Howe adds: “We wanted to recapture the energy of the first album. Asia has always been about great songs and fantastic musicianship – I’m sure fans of the first album will fall in love with XXX.”
A remastered anniversary edition of the 1982 record will include a second disc of rare live recordings, extended booklet, new Dean artwork, limited-edition shirt and a DVD of the documentary Asia: 30 Years On.
A concert DVD entitled Resonance, shot in Switzerland during their 2010-11 world tour, will be released later this year.
