The nominations for the 2009 Classic Rock Roll Of Honour were exclusively unveiled today by legends of rock parody Spinal Tap. The band took time out of rehearsals for their show at Wembley Stadium next week to announce the shortlists for the 6 public voted categories at a media launch in Hard Rock Cafe’s backstage Hard Rock Calling VIP garden in Hyde Park, London. The winners will be announced at the gala ceremony, which takes place Monday 2 November at the Park Lane Hotel.

Heaven & Hells (really Black Sabbath) new outing beats all the stuff released in the new millenium, even most of the what 90´s produced. It beats shit like Deathmagnetic and Chinese Democracy hands down. Black Ice is OK (thou I cant make difference between so many AC/DC songs, they are all pretty much the same), but even it pales in comparison to the The Devil You Know.
Have you guys even heard Dream Theaters Black Clouds & Silver Lingings album??

All band are great, all albums are great and so on. Its a matter of personal music taste.
HOWEVER, AC/DC HAVE SOMETHING NO OTHER BAND HAS. THEY HAVE ACCOMPLISHED FUCKING EVERYTHING WITHOUT SELLING OUT WITHOUT CHANGING WITHOUT BENDING THEIR BELIEVES. FOR THIS…………. I SALUTE YOU AC/DC!

The majority of the people here probably haven’t heard black clouds and silver linings. Every song on that album is so epic and they give me chills everytime i listen to it…especially “the count of tuscany”
if you have not heard this album, i would strongly advise anyone to listen to it…and if u dont want to listen to the whole thing, at leat listen the the count.
ac/dc should split all the awards together with GNR
New Device for best new band!! The talent in the playing and quality of their songs are great and they aint just doing a poor Motley Crue impression or 80’s thow back thing like most of these young bands like Steadlur.

Everyday Demons for best album for me, The Answer are the best band since (the original) Guns N’ Roses, and, for me, the third best band of all time – after Zep and Guns.

I’ve got the feeling that because the uk(I Know their Irish) hasn’t had a really great rock band for years,we will grab onto anything thats vaguely decent. You’ve got a couple of rocky looking guys and a couple of non descript student types. I’m sure there’s so much better out there.

Heavens Basement are hardly a new band, they’ve been around for years….. I agree with voting for New Device, they sound awesome and fresh and have achieved a lot in a pretty small space of time.

This is supposed to be about Classic Rock..well, here’s a thought..include some classic rock!!! agree with AC/DC, Maiden and Metallica etc…why not include Scorpions tour of UK with Uli Roth and Michael Schenker!!!??? Myself and many many others thought they were some of the best gigs of 2008! again you ignore them..funny that classic rock just part sponsered them in Russia with Alice Cooper etc….

THUNDER should be given some sort of recognition for the past 20 years. What with Danny Bowes superb vocals & Luke Morley’s songwriting (along with Chris, Ben and Harry’s excellent musicianship) they leave a fantastic body of work. This band never fail to give 100% live and have been a credit in the way they have provided for their loyal fanbase.
