mdome / News / 24/11/2009 15:00pm

Issue 5 of Classic Rock Presents Prog is on sale now.

With its usual lavish wallet featuring Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson in classic pose, the issue looks at the relationship between prog rock and folk music, with brand new interviews with Ian Anderson, Renaissance, Roy Harper, Pentangle, Comus and Mostly Autumn. There’s a look at the life and times of John Martyn too.

Elsewhere there’s an exclusive round-table Progressive Nation interview with Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy, Opeth’s Mikael Akerfeldt and Bigelf’s Damon Fox discussing the state of prog music today, and interviews with Oceansize, Within Temptation, Katatonia, 3, The Devil’s Blood and a seasonal look at Xmas prog tunes.

All this, plus a free 12-track CD featuring the likes of Transatlantic, Nosound, 3, Within Temptation, Big Big Train, Mostly Autumn and many more.

You’ll find all your progressive desires catered for in Classic Rock Presents Prog issue 5, on sale from tomorrow.

Whatever happened to the Prog-cast? We got about two of them and then… silence.

And the Classic Rock pod casts we only got two of them.

Is there a new Prog band out there that reminds everybody of Moody Blues? I’m serious; if there is let me know I will check out thier cd! My favorite Prog DVD is a tie between “Yes” Symphonic; and Moody Blues “Live from Royal Albert Hall!….Comments?

If anybody knows of any Prog bands that kick butt on DVD let me know! Thank You!

I cannot believe people are still paying £7.99 for this magazine,I bought the first one,and it was dire..If it was £3.99 maybe

Also yeah to Sanctuary Rig on the cover CD!

I hope this issue won’t take 6 weeks to cross the ocean, like the previous one did!!! Canada is not at the end of the world you know!! Speaking of issue 4, the close up picture of Thom Yorke on the cover was not very flattering for him. He looked hung over and on something illegal. Or is it his normal state? A picture of the band would have looked much better. But fortunately, what counts is what’s inside the magasine, and it was great!!! Thanks for the C.D.; Magenta, The Enid and Abel Ganz Wow!!!

Nice wallet design. Shame none of us subscribers were sent it; only the issue.

Sanctuary Rig …… rock on!

8 quid is a bit steep. How about lowering the price?

can’t agree with yesman78. all 4 issues have been very good. looking forward to isssue5. it is a bit pricey. but worth a splurg every couple of months.

Gotta agree that £7.99 is astronomically expensive for a magazine. I bought the Rush one coz I didn’t see the price, foolishly expecting it to be the usually magazine price of about 3 and a half quid.

Face facts publishers, you can promote it as much as you like, but it’ll die a death if it continues to be the price of a new-release album!

I hope that this new issue will not take 6 weeks to cross the ocean like the previous one did!!! Canada is not at the end of the world you know! You have an excellent magazine, and the C.D. is great, but why does it take that long to come to my home town of Quebec??

Where can I order a subscription?

Why the subscribers receive the mag without the wallet?? This wallet is something very special and the subscribers too would like to have the whole thing!!

Steven McKay

I bought this as I’m a huge Tull, Opeth and Fairport Convention fan.
What a bloody rip off – £8?!
I won’t be buying it again I can tell you that much – where do you guys get these prices from?
