Classic Rock and sister magazine Prog are now available as digital editions on Newsstand – Apple’s new magazine section for the iPad and iPhone. If you’re unsure about how it all works, come inside and read our extensive list of FAQs. (And by the way, if you’ve downloaded the app already, there is a back issue available now for free.)
APPLE NEWSTAND FAQ
Q: If I purchase a single issue on my iPad can I access it on my iPhone?
A: Yes – just press Buy again on the issue and use the same iTunes account as before, you’ll be notified that the download is free because you have purchased it already.
Q: If I purchase a subscription on my iPad can I access it on my iPhone?
A: Yes – just press Restore Purchases in the Help screen. This is under the “More” button for iPhone users. Once your subscription has been transferred, any issues in your subscription will change to “Download” rather than “Buy”.
Q: I upgraded to a new device/restored my device and all my issues disappeared – where did they go?
A: To save filling up iCloud with data that can easily be restored, all magazines on Newsstand don’t back up their data to iTunes. You’ll need to download your issues again – press Buy again if they are single issues, or use Restore Purchases to transfer your subscription.
Q: Do you have an Android App?
A: Yes we use Zinio to supply digital magazines to Android devices amongst others, as their list of supported devices is growing. Download the Zinio app or visit www.zinio.com
Q: Can I access my issues on a PC/Mac?
A: You can’t view these on a PC or Mac, if they wish to do that direct them to Zinio.
Q: Can I transfer an existing Zinio subscription to Newsstand?
A: No, even though they appear to the customer as the same product, we are dealing with two separate companies so the user will have to cancel Zinio and start up a new sub on Newsstand.
