Classic Beatles Contract On Public View
The original contract signed by The Beatles with manager Brian Epstein is to go on public display.
This will be at the Beatles Story in Liverpool from Friday, September 25 for two weeks. The contract comes off display on October 9, after which it’s to be auctioned. It’s expected to attract bids of a quarter of a million pounds.
The Contract, dated October 1, 1962, gave Epstein a 25 per cent cut of the group’s earnings. It has the signatures of all four members of the band, plus those of Harold Harrison and James McCartney, who signed on behalf of their underage sons, along with that of Epstein. John Lennon actually signed it twice, because the first time he did it in the wrong place!
