'Chinese Democracy' Looks Set To Debut At No. 2 In The UK And US Charts

You spend 14 years working on an album and it doesn’t even top the charts. Surely this couldn’t happen to Axl after all of this time, could it?

It would appear that Guns N’ Roses Chinese Democracy is currently set to debut at No.2 on the US Billboard charts. GN’R have shifted 300,000 units of Chinese Democracy in its first week of release but this is unlikely to secure the top spot. That honour is going to go to Kanye West’s 808s And Heartbreak.

We guess there’s always the next album…

Meanwhile, over in Britain, The Killers’ third album Day & Age looks set to take the No.1 spot ahead of Chinese Democracy.

On reported first day sales, Day & Age had sold 70,000 to Chinese Democracy’s 50,000.

The good news is that Chinese Democracy looks likely to hit No.1 in Canada, New Zealand and Finland, among other territories.

The further good news is that Guns N’ Roses have topped the iTunes Rock Charts across the globe.

Chinese Democracy took the lead on the charts in US, UK, France, Germany, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. The only oddball hold out was in Norway where GN’R was No. 2 to Tim Christensen’s Superior.

GN’R are currently on top of the overall iTunes album charts in Germany, France, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Sweden, and Switzerland. In the US they are No. 4 behind releases from Kanye West, The Killers and Coldplay.

They have denied the No. 1 by The Killers in the UK, Australia, Norway, Portugal and Spain. In France they are No 2. behind Seal’s new album Soul. And it’s a battle of egos in Canada where Kanye West is keeping GN’R from topping the overall iTunes album chart.

On a completely irrelevent note.. At this particular moment in time I’m laughing my head off listening to ’street of dreams’ from chinese democracy thinking that Axl must have penned those lyrics to Slash!!!

Number Two is crap. I mean, literally, of course. Axl won’t need to worry unduly – it’s still quite an achievement. And he hasn’t been dumped by his record company…

Does anyone know when the follow-up to Chinese Democracy is out? Seriously… 14 years?! It’s a good album, it’s a grower, but Zeppelin were going for 11 years and they released 8 studio albums, a movie and a live album, not to mention an album of covers/outtakes a year after they split. 14 years is nearly half as long as what Maiden have been active, and look at what they’ve done in that time! At this stage, I’ll be a pensioner when the next G’N'R album comes out!

Tim Christensen is topping the chart in DENMARK, wich is not the capital in neither Norway or Sweden

GNR didn’t have the same build up to the release that AC/DC had, promotion-wise anyway. That and peoples crap taste in music these days.

With the resurgence of hard rock, heavy metal
it seems as though, eg: Metalllica, Motley Crue,
AC/DC, and now a new album cd from Guns& Roses, have literally roared up the charts, with these current economic climates, and as we all know you can download on the net, the sales form their past records will never be the same, but to me that’s a fine effort.

why exactly is it a good news to have a shit record as No 1 around the globe ? I guess position is calculated more on the purchase by the shop than the sales of copies

i’ll tell you what! i for one am fucking glad this album isn’t going extremely well. axl is a jerk. he has an exceptional voice and was in one of the best bands ever. but lets face it gnr mk iii isnt exactly what gnr are all about is it?

the album is woeful in it’s entirety. i can’t fathom the idea that it took….what 14 yrs! to make…who are you actually kidding here axl? you’re lucky appetite, and illusions made such an impact otherwise you’d be all but forgotten now. man!!!!

axl is an idiot!
this album is crap!
while the world return to REAL rock sound he try to change the sound destroying the original blues rock that made he famous!
return with slash and record a REAL rock album stupid!

Yeah It Could! Y not?!
The Album is good as Just and only as AXL’s Solo Album!
No Way You can label The GnR on that!
And Listening to the album, some songs are over-cooked at some points. there are some synthesizers that added later after the spread of the album on the internet previously under the name of “Whenever its done”.
Yet, Chinese Democracy, Madagascar, and this I love is my favorite songs of the album, Yet The 1st two feels too Electronic for GnR and most of all, they beg for Slash’s Solos on them! or at least Axl could have used more stylish solo players!

Overall, one thing is obvious that GnR without the original band members is No GnR at ALL! Everybody Agree that!
