ChildLine Rocks guitar challenge aims to break world records

ChildLine: strum a chord for a good cause

The ChildLine charity is staging a guitar-challenge event this autumn with the aim of breaking not one, not two, not three, but FOUR Guinness World Records.

On October 14 at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena up to 3,000 guitarists of all types, genres and ages will gather together to attempt to break the following world records:

1. Largest electric guitar ensemble

2. Largest music lesson

3. Largest air guitar ensemble

4. Most guitar amplifiers used simultaneously

The event is being staged in support of ChildLine, the UK’s free, confidential helpline dedicated to children and young people. The fundraising target for the day is £250,000.

In addition to the four Guinness World Record attempts there will be a host of guest-star appearances throughout the afternoon – details to be announced shortly.

A competition for the fastest guitarist in the house will take place and three unsigned bands will kick off the proceedings at 1pm. Doors open at 12 noon.

Entry is £30 which covers admission for the player plus a non-playing guest and also contributes to the cost of a Marshall MS2 guitar amp which all players can take home with them.
