Bonus Tracks Of The Day: Carbon/Silicon
Mick Jones and Tony James are two of the great names and survivors from the 1970s punk era. With The Clash and Generation X, respectively, they made some of the most crucial music of the period. Now the pair are together in Carbon/Silicon and giving away new album The Carbon Bubble, which makes it not just a Track Of The Day, but the Album Of The Day.
Jones and James started working together in 2002, writing the song MP3.Free and Why Do Men Fight. Within a year they had enough material for two albums. In February 2004, they decided to road test the songs, using the rhythm section of bassist William Blake and drummer Danny TheRed. Which is when they decided to give their project the name Carbon/Silicon.
In February 2006, they ‘released’ the A.T.O.M. album. But embracing modern technology, they made each track available as a free MP3 as it was finished. Three months later, the artwork for the record was given away online. The duo had always been fan friendly, encouraging people to record and film their gigs.
By June of the same year, Carbon/Silicon had a second album called The Western Front ready and, again, gave this away. And in March 2007, the live band was cemented with James and Jones both on guitar and vocals, joined by bassist Leo ‘E-Zee Kill’ Williams and drummer Dominic Greensmith.
Now, they’re at again. As of now you can download the whole of the new album for free at http://www.carbonsiliconinc.com/
That’s also where you’ll find more info on the band.
