Aussie Rock Heroes Die
Aussie rock has suffered two losses over the past few days, with the passing of Sherbert guitarist Harvey James and Cold Chisel drummer Steve Prestwich.
James has died from lung cancer at the age of 58. He joined Sherbert in 1975 and the following year appeared on their most successful album, Howzat. The title song reached number four in the UK singles chart in 1976. He left the band in 1982.
He was diagnosed with cancer six months ago, and Sherbert were planning to reunite for a benefit show in Sydney, during which James would have played with them.
Prestwick passed away from a brain tumour. He was 56. Born in Liverpool he was a founder-member of the band in 1973, when they were know as Orange; the following year they became Cold Chisel. When the band split up in 1983, Prestwich joined the Little River Band. He also released two solo albums, and was part of the Cold Chisel reunion last year.
