Anselmo’s Peace Offering
Down frontman Philip Anselmo is prepared to make his peace with one-time bandmate Vinnie Paul.
Talking to the Boston Herald, the singer has said about his ongoing feud with his former Pantera pal:
“My olive branch is always extended to that fellow. I love him. I feel his pain. I know his brother (Dimebag Darrell) was his closest friend. If we were in a position to communicate and talk things out, I’d be on the first plane.”
Anselmo also spoke about his feelings towards guitarist Dimebag, who was shot dead onstage in 2004:
“I think about him so much. He was that guitar. He was that stage. He was meant to do exactly what he was doing and he did it 1,000 percent…Dimebag’s death – the nonsensical reason of it all – that’s the stuff that’s really hard to come to terms with.”
On the Down front, the band are to release the rockumentary Down – Diary Of A Mad Band in 2010. But a snippet is to be previewed at Kronk Fest 2009, which happens in Pontiac, Michigan on September 20. Anselmo will be making a personal appearance at the event, being held to raise funds for world renowned boxing centre the Kronk Gym.
