Alice In Chains: ‘Internet Leaks Are Like Prison Rape’
Alice in Chains drummer Sean Kinney has compared having the band’s new album leaked and illegally downloaded to being raped in prison.
In an interview with Chicago’s Q101 radio station the Alice In Chains members were asked for their thoughts on their new album, Black Gives Way To Blue, being leaked on the Internet prior to the official release date.
Kinney replied: “You know it’s gonna happen ’cause it’s part of [how the industry works nowadays], but you just hope it doesn’t happen too far in advance.
“It’s nothing unique [to this band]. But we hadn’t been through it before, ’cause we hadn’t made a record in 14 years, so I think that’s the initial shock. It’s like, ‘What?’
“We were talking about it earlier… It’s like going to prison — you’re know you’re gonna get raped, but you’re not ready for it. You think you’re all prepared for it, but you’re not really prepared for how violent that rape is. It’s like, ‘Wow! He’s really giving it to me.’”

I for one bought the record, and think it’s the best thing I’ve heard in a looong time. Well done, guys, and hopefully you’ll get back to Australia soon!
was possible to listen to it on their homepage, listen to it how many times on spotify u want, why download it ^^
This album is truly outstanding, honestly.
Under the circumstances it has been conceived it simply couldn’t be any better.
It’s pure Alice in Chains, even without Layne, maybe it’s all the more pure for his absence?
I’ve had it playing in the car for the last 2000 miles, and I reckon I’ll do another 3000 more before I decide on a change.
It’s a mellow, beautiful offering compared to ‘Dirt’ perhaps, but these middle-aged Grungers can still crank it when needed!
I simply adore it …10/10
