Alice Cooper To Play Halloween Shows In London
Alice Cooper is to perform two special shows in London, to celebrate Halloween, the time of the year we’d most associate with him.
Alice will appear at the Roundhouse on October 31 and November 1, with Jim Rose (of Jim Rose Circus fame) and Zodiac Mindwarp & The Love Reaction.
“I could have done this in America, but I own Halloween and I want London to become a real Halloween city,” Alice exclusively told Classic Rock. “For me, this is the perfect place to do it. Next to Christmas, it’s the most fun holiday of the year. Everyone gets to dress up and act daft. I know people try to say that there’s an occult connection, but that’s nonsense. This is a very silly time of year.
“My show is already a full-on Halloween experience, but I want this to be even bigger, so I’ve invited Jim Rose – he has some really freaky people with him – and Zodiac Mindwarp.”
Alice is also aiming to have some weird, wonderful, freaky and outrageous new performers joining him on the bill.
“I want London freaks to be part of this. I know they’re out there. I bet that right now there are 35 acts rehearsing in a barn saying, ‘Nobody’s ever gonna see this’. Well, now’s the chance to get in front of peope.”
If you reckon you’re crazy and ghoulish enough to meet Alice’s high standards of dark depravity, then upload a video of your performance at www.alicecooper.com. The deadline is Saturday, August 7. The best of these will be invited down to the London Dungeon (28-34 Tooley Street, SE1 2SZ) on August 9 at 7pm. They’ll be auditioned by a carefully selected panel, including Alice of course.
“It doesn’t matter what you do, riding a unicycle while fire and juggling. If you startle us with your video, or are really good at what you do, then you’re in with a real shot of making the auditions. I want five to 10 of these acts of desperation, as I call them, on the bill.”
Alice also has a few words of warning for those in the front two rows at the Roundhouse.
“Don’t wear your best clothes. If you sit at the front in a white tuxedo, then you’re a target for us. In fact, if you’re in the first 20 rows, then you’re begging to be part of the show, and we’re happy to include you.”
Alice isn’t planning any radical changes to his current live set and stage. After all, it is Halloween every night for him.
“Alice gets killed four times, and they’re working on a fifth – how much more Halloween can you get?”
Tickets for each show cost £38.50 (seated)/£33.50 standing. You can get them now at www.livenation.com
