Aerosmith To Play Download With Steven Tyler!

Aerosmith have been added to the bill of Download 2010. What’s more, that’s Aerosmith with Steven Tyler!

The boys from Boston have been in turmoil these past few months, and there’s been mounting speculation concerning Tyler’s future in the band.

At one point it seemed certain that Aerosmith would replace Tyler with a new singer.

Sammy Hagar, Chris Cornell, Billy Idol and Paul Rodgers were among the names mentioned as a possible successor to Steven.

But Classic Rock understands that the Download organisers have booked Aerosmith this year on the proviso that Tyler, and only Tyler, appears as their frontman.

Also added to the bill at Download 2010 are Rage Against The Machine.

Download takes place at Donington Park June 11-13.

At present it’s not known on which days Aerosmith and Rage Against The Machine will be appearing. But as both bands will headline, they will definitely be playing on separate days.

Our money’s on Rage for the 12th and Aerosmith for the 13th, topping the bill on another ‘Classic Rock Sunday’.

AC/DC have already confirmed on their official website that they will be playing the Friday night at Download (June 11).

Tickets for Download 2010 are available via www.downloadfestival.co.uk

…And there’s more Download news to come. If you’re still awake, make sure you visit www.classicrockmagazine.com in the early hours of tomorrow.

Because at 12.30am (GMT) on Tuesday, February 16 we’ll be giving you the info on five more great bands who’ll be playing at this year’s festival.

Can’t help but think that all the rumours were just to build up hype around future gigs. Make it look like seeing Aerosmith with a full line up is something rather exclusive and privileged therefore increasing demand for tickets. The truth is that seeing Aersmith now is no different from seeing Aerosmith any time in the past 10 years

. Not sure if Tyler can keep it together for Download.Rage Against The Machine are a poor headliner in my opinion and i think AC/DC will blow everybody away in what has amounted to a very poor line up.

wow-this is pure feckin savage ‘AC/DC,AEROSMITH & RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE’ all headlining Download? AWESOME CARNAGE

rah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

now..that makes sense

Hawd it Bob I think you are being a bit harsh considering not that many bands have been announced yet

AC/DC and Aerosmith are two of the biggest names in Rock – they don’t get any bigger, and having had the good fortune of seeing both many times in recent years I’d say this is actually an excellent line up – this is what CR sponsored Monsters of Rock at Milton Keynes on 2006 should’ve been!!!

As for Rage… well Download caters for lovers of both young and old rock fans and of the 90’s – now bands Rage will be a far better headliner than a System of a Down or a Slipknot

I’m absolutely delighted I gambled on the early bird tix pre-Xmas – this is going to be a belter!

All we need now is Buckcherry, Airbourne, Stone Gods, American Dog, Foreigner, Poison, Cheap Trick, Billy Idol, Black Stone Cherry; Rob Zombie and Ace Frehley added to the line up!!

Gobberz

Agreed with Bob

Paul Ralphs

I know it’s easy to say this now but I thought all the Aerosmith stories were rubbish. A very clever way of keeping their stock high! It will be awesome to see them.

It’s early days yet . An anti climax of announcing Aerosmith, in my opinion, but I am sure they’ll close the event pretty well. Haven’t bought my tickets yet – but I am hoping that it improves with those bands that grab your attention. At the moment, only the brilliant STP are doing it for me.

Saint Paul

Aerosmith are past there sell by date on there last 2 visits over, but if they stick with the 70’s and not the noughties ballads it’ll be great.

Chris H

Clutching at straws with RATM what a load of shite

ian wood

Socks and feet still firmly in place.
Love Aerosmith but so desperately wanted it to be Van Halen

sammy Lee

That is a freakin’ susan perb line up, can’t wait, shame about Van Halen not doing it, when will they get there Diamond dave fronted arses over here???
I’m well chuffed with these headliners though, poor line up my arse!

chris a

sorry but apart from the mighty ac/dc that is a very disappointing, limp, shit, line up

In what world does a festival involving AC/DC and Aerosmith amount to a ‘very poor line up’. Aerosmith may not have made a single note of new music worth listening to in over 20 years, but that does not stop them being fantastic live (apart from the bit when they play that song from that meteor film). As for AC/DC, is anyone seriously expecting them to be anything less than phenomenal?

Anyway, shouldn’t we all be celebrating that it isn’t Bon Jovi or Axl N’ Roses?

Dr Rock

gotta disagree with Bob…no offence, how can you say a poor line-up? A dozen bands have been announced thus far , would you have been saying the same thing this time last year with the 09 line-up? bar RATM the line-up so far is worth the weekend ticket price alone ……and there`s still 90 + bands to be announced , it equates to roughly £5 per band in the long run……..damn good value!! reserve judgement untill all the bands have been announced , remember , last year was the most successful ….ever. This year will top that…..easily!!!

Markos B

I disagree Bob. If anything I agree with Saaid. Either way, I believe this download is gonna be awesome! Aerosmith and AC/DC are gonna rule

I think the Aeromsith break-up was a publicity stunt, seemed to have worked though, I’m excited ror Download, let’s hope they play old stuff – Toys in the attic/Rocks era, would love to hear Mama Kin live too…

Download is looking good. Three insane headliners. Let the good times roll. I pray for sunshine.

gazzagary

So will Guns N’ Roses now play Hyde Park at the Hard Rock Festival?

Oldprog rock fan.

oohhh gazzagary, never even thought about that! Guns for Hard Rock!

AC/DC and Aerosmith does it for me I am stoked!!!!!!!! rock on I cannot wait!!.

Megadeth and Motorhead as well. Good work by the organisers. I am a happy bunny.

Blythie

That settles it, Sonisphere for me.

Seriously, are RATM a headline act? Actually, don’t answer that seeing as Offspring and Lost Prophets have headlined in recent years.

AC/DC OK granted, I can accept that. Aerosmith have the ability to doa superb show but haven’t done any decent new material for ages and I also thought Joe Perry’s album that came with the mag recently was garbage.

Maiden and Rammstein kick so much arse over this.

Gobberz

Done good this year. Shame I cant afford to go to Download, Id love to see AC/DC and Motorhead….

Sterling Whitaker

I don’t think for one second the strange, twisted saga of Aerosmith is over yet. I don’t see this as a reunion, it is simply Aerosmith doing what it always does – making decisions based on dollars. If they have to have Tyler there to get this payday then they will. Don’t read into it too much yet, folks.

There is going to be way more to this story before it’s all out there, trust me . . .

AC/DC & AEROSMITH. Superb!! Gutted we didn’t get Van Halen but I appreciate Download must appeal to everyone and RATM are a probably the best in their genre. I’m also very happy with Billy Idol being added. Now give us some W.A.S.P., Airbourne, Steel Panther, Buckcherry & Motley Crue… Hell, I don’t ask for much… What about Metallica checking their ego’s in at the door and supporting AC/DC in a re-run of 1991?? Make it happen D’load!!

modrockerhippie

Wouldn’t that be amazing, JohnEB?

blackfoot_strikes

probably the best line up since 2006

Asmith-please play Rats, Lord of the Thighs, and if anything ‘new’ has to be played make it ‘fever’ and fine!

steve emmerson

Saaid couldnt agree more.

Perry and Tyler have made up some bullsh*t story about how they are not getting on and that Perry has auditioned singers (that would never fit – now we know why!) and that the band is close to meltdown and then….Oh we are OK and will perform at Download.

Great PR which is obviously needed by a band that hasnt released anything new (not honkin’ on hobo) since 2001 and cant give away tickets in the US for $10.

yeah yeah whatever now get venom, saxon, manowar, sabbat, diamond head and deep purple on the bill and it will all be worth it.

Nickster

Assuming that they’ll be headlining on the Sunday night, and having seen them three times before, I’ll be well on my way home by the time they hit the stage as I don’t want to witness yet another tired performance. Besides haven’t they got a new singer…SUNNY MANN!

neal mcwattie

Is it April fool or something?Aerosmith as a credible relevant act were finished a decade ago, if not longer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least ACDC and Motorhead are still putting out high quality product and Motorhead tour Europe unfailingly, but this mob are just a fucking piss poor nostalgia act and if that is the strength and calibre of headliner the promoters are aiming for then dont see much future for the festival, which would be a real shame!!!!At this rate fucking Ozzy will be getting added next!!!!!Personally i think the Sonisphere bill beats everything else hands down!!!!!
Poison and Thunder blew them off the stage in 90,they certainly aint going to fare any better now!!!!
