Frankly, we haven’t heard a decent rock band out of Brazil since Sepultura came along all those yonks ago. But that’s changed now that we’ve discovered Black Drawing Chalks.
Tracks: Black Drawing Chalks – Cut Myself In 2 / My Favorite Way
File under: a bit of QOTSA, a bit of Sabbath, a bit of Big Linda (remember them?)… and a whole lot of brilliance
Black Drawing Chalks formed in the Brazilian state of Goiás in 2005. Cut Myself In 2, a jagged, edgy, stoner-y, minor masterwork of a song, comes from the band’s just-released third album, No Dust Stuck On You.
The accompanying video is one of the best we’ve seen in a long time, containing a bit of simulated girl-on-girl action, some sensual skinny-dipping (almost) and culminating in scenes that could’ve been stolen from the opening credits of a James Bond movie.
As a special treat we’re also including a clip for one of BDC’s earlier tracks, My Favorite Way. As far as the visuals for this one are concerned, well… imagine if The Beatles’ movie Yellow Submarine had been X-rated and featured a World War II aircraft instead of a sub. Seriously.
