When Dave Grohl bought the recording console from Sound City Studios in California, he knew he was purchasing a piece of history – because he was part of it.
The iconic premises in Van Nuys, California, last year announced it was closing its doors after having offered services to big names since 1969.
Grohl himself recorded there when Nirvana created their iconic 1991 work Nevermind, and the memories inspired him to start work on a documentary about the studio.
The movie features Butch Vig, Trent Reznor, Tom Petty, Mick Fleetwood and John Fogerty, among others.
