Video: Chris Cornell pays live tribute to Pearl Jam
Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell – who famously collaborated with Eddie Vedder and others on the Temple Of The Dog album – performed Footsteps alongside the Avett Brothers on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night.
It’s ‘Pearl Jam week’ on Late Night and it kicked off in style with PJ’s fellow guru of grunge leading the tributes with this haunting cover version of the lesser-known track.
Seth and Scott Avett strummed and plucked an arrangement of the song – which was on the Lost Dogs collection – on guitar and banjo while Cornell poured his own unmistakable vocals over the top.
The cover was the first in the week-long celebration of the grunge legends who have only just released Lightning Bolt – their 10th studio album.
Fleet Foxes are scheduled to be the next band in for a tribute cover when they put their spin on Corduroy before current Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready will perform on Wednesday with country star Dierks Bently and the Roots. Pearl Jam will bring the curtain down on a week to remember with a pair of live performances on Thursday and Friday.
