Video: Crown Jewel Defense combine grit and glitter in glam-metal reboot

Taylor Hood: spreading the disease

Glitter-cheeked US power-pop glam-metallers Crown Jewel Defense have unveiled the video for Alive Again, the lead single from their upcoming self-titled debut album.

CJD is basically one man: multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Taylor Hood.

CJD’s album is said to blend feelgood all-American classic rock (think Kansas and Journey) with the aggression and technicality of modern metallers such as Dragonforce, Avenged Sevenfold and Children Of Bodom.

That’s not all. CJD’s live performances, we hear, utilise the production and entertainment elements of glam metal weaved together with the raw power of a sweaty club show. Plus, Hood himself is said to have the stage presence of Steven Tyler mixed with the musical prowess of Slash!

That’s enough hyperbole. Find out for yourself if the above claims hold water when CJD (that’s Hood joined by a full live band) play the following shows:

Jan 14 – Nottingham Stealth
Jan 15 – London Borderline
Jan 17 – Manchester NQ Live
Jan 18 – Newcastle O2 Academy

Support comes from rising UK favourites Octane OK and Swedish rockers Tantrum To Blind.

CJD’s album is out on January 14. For more info go to http://crownjeweldefense.com

PS. To us Brits, isn’t Crown Jewel Defense just an elaborate moniker for a Cricket Box? Just wonderin’…
