Tracks Of The Week results: Kiss destroy the opposition!
Kiss are the runaway winners of our latest Tracks Of the Week poll, gaining nearly a third of total votes cast.
Interestingly, Kiss’ Right Here Right Now (which is the latest TOTW No.1 with 30.76% of votes) isn’t actually included on the conventional CD release of the band’s most recent album, Monster. The song was on the iTunes only edition and recently cropped up on the Limited Tour Edition of the release.
Languishing w-a-a-a-a-a-y behind Kiss in second place are Airbourne with 11.69% of votes, followed by Leogun at No.3 (9.71%) and Orianthi at No.4 (6.83%).
Check out the full results below – and watch out for another TOTW poll, coming soon.
1. Kiss – Right Here Right Now (30.76%)
The song has been adopted by the Arena Football League in the US and will be played before every game of the current season. Kiss are on tour with a new stage set including a giant moving spider. Gene Simmons recently discussed their long term future and admitted they probably had between five and ten years left of their career.
2. Airbourne – No One Fits Me (Better Than You) (11.69%)
It’s taken from latest album Black Dog Barking – which frontman Joel O’Keeffe says is a better product than previous outing No Guts No Glory. He said: “We might have rushed a few things here and there, because we had two world tours back to back up against each other. We recorded the music just in the middle of all that. We even had some shows between recording. This time, we spaced it out.” Airbourne tour the UK starting in November.
3. Leogun – Let’s Be Friends (9.71%)
A three-piece from London, the Leogun story really starts in 2009 when singer/guitarist Tommy Smith blagged his way backstage at an Eagles Of Death Metal gig and made a contact that introduced him to Rocket Music Management (founded by Elton John). Soon, Leogun had been signed up by Rocket and inked a record deal with Yamaha Entertainment Group. Let’s Be Friends is the band’s first single.
4. Orianthi – Heaven In This Hell (6.83%)
Yeah, she’s kinda easy on the eye. And yeah, she plays for Alice Cooper. But that’s not why Orianthi is here right now. The woman’s got a solo album to promote, a gig at London’s 100 Club coming on August 7 – and she’s got this song, a grandiose epic with a naggingly familiar riff, a big chorus and even some Spanish guitar to impress the musos.
5. Krokus – Dog Song (6.65%)
It’s taken from their 17th album Dirty Dynamite, which came out in February and is the Swiss outfit’s first recording with guitarist Mandy Meyer in 30 years. The band recently offered to meet Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider to make amends over a 1982 incident in which they refused to pay his wife for costume work because they didn’t like the results.
6. Blackmore’s Night – Dancer And The Moon
7. Ulysses – April Showers
8. Manic Street Preachers – Rewind The Film
9. The Babys – Not Ready To Say Goodbye
10. Paperback Freud – Shakin’
11. Pixies – Bagboy
12. = Houston – Runaway
12. = Tarja – Victim Of Ritual
14. God Damn – Red Checker
15. HBS (Ben Shepherd) – Baron Robber
