Here’s the third part of our Top 30 Videos Of 2012. Featuring Crucified Barbara, Fozzy, Sheepdogs, Little Caesar, Our Lady Peace…
Note: The Top 30 was compiled by Geoff Barton, who comments: “When the Classic Rock website was relaunched this past May, we made a conscious effort to crank up the music content and regularly post the best new rock videos around. This end-of-year list is comprised of clips that made the greatest impression on me, personally, during 2012. Some are big-budget affairs; others may have been filmed on a shoestring. Some feature major bands; others focus on relatively unknown artists. But all, in their own ways, are vicarious visual treats. It goes without saying that the music is damn fine in each of ‘em too. Be sure to visit the Classic Rock website tomorrow (December 29) for part four of our Top 30 rundown!”
20. Crucified Barbara – Rock Me Like The Devil
In our opinion these Scandi-gals are the best femme-metal band on the planet right now; Mia Coldheart especially has evolved into a top-notch in-your-face frontwoman. For incontrovertible proof, look no further than this all-action clip.
19. Fozzy – Sandpaper
Concerning this Evil Dead-inspired video, Fozzy frontman Chris ‘WWE’ Jericho told Loudwire: “We found this bad-ass cabin in the woods in Atlanta, and just everything kind of fell together from there. We found, right by the cabin, there was a civil-war burial ground, and there was this creepy bridge that was near it, and the cabin couldn’t have been more perfect for what we were looking for. It looks exactly like the little Evil Dead cabin. Then we started doing all the effects that were involved, all the gags that were involved, the ‘flying camera’ and being attacked by the vine.”
18. Sheepdogs – The Way It Is
This is the lead single from the Saskatchewan dirt-hounds’ debut album The Sheepdogs. Frontman Ewan Currie explains: “I wanted to do a song that had a big, nasty strut. Nothing packs a punch like a two-note riff. It’s lean and mean.” And this Babe Ruth-inspired video is terrific fun, ain’t it?
17. Little Caesar – American Dream
Check out this stark and thought-provoking video for the title track of Little Caesar’s most recent album. Sweet dreams ain’t made of this…
16. Our Lady Peace – As Fast As You Can
Canadian combo Our Lady Peace with a whole lotta Looney Tunes from Toronto. ‘Nuff said.
Coming tomorrow: Nos. 15-11 featuring Red Hot Chili Peppers, Candlelight Red, Diehard Dolls, Graveyard and Lynyrd Skynyrd!
