Video: Soundgarden launch Been Away Too Long

Soundgarden have released the video for Been Away Too Long, the lead track from comeback album King Animal.

The band are gearing up to play London’s Shepherds Bush Empire – 18 years to the day since they became the first-ever outfit to perform in the venue.

Ben Shephard recalls: “It was a big deal that Shepherds Bush had reopened. They were still finishing it when we turned up for soundcheck. I remember really liking the building a lot. We were at the pinnacle of success, kind of, and the crowd were pretty wild for Britain too. I liked it. I didn’t know the British liked us that much – I just remember getting hate mail all the time.

“I usually judge crowds by how bad they smelt, the wilder they were the more I liked them – but the crowd didn’t smell like anything there, because all they smelt like was new paint.”

King Animal is released on November 12.
