Skid Row Snake’s Spotify playlist
To commemorate the recent release of Skid Row’s United World Rebellion Chapter One EP – and ahead of the band’s autumn tour with Ugly Kid Joe – we asked guitarist Dave ‘Snake’ Sabo to compile a Spotify playlist of the songs that helped shape his career in music.
Snake gives the background to his track choices below:
“When I was 17 years old I started to hang out an import record store in Old Bridge, New Jersey called Rock’N'Roll Heaven. The store was located in a Flea Market and they changed the world of metal! These are the bands I discovered there.
“Rock’N'Roll Heaven was responsible for bringing Venom, Accept, Raven, Metallica, The Rods, Exciter, Anvil etc to the New York/New Jersey area to play live. I had never heard of many of these bands up until this point. Their music wasn’t available in New Jersey… until now! Once again my life was changed by the power of music.
“Rock’N'Roll Heaven eventually morphed into the original Megaforce Records, owned by Jon and Marsha Zazula. Through them we were introduced to Metallica, Anthrax, Overkill, Testament, TT Quick, King’s X, etc. This store is how I discovered metal that I had never known before. This list is from the perspective of a 17 year old kid from Sayreville – proudly re-named Slayerville – New Jersey.”
