Nirvana ‘reunited’ by label
Nirvana have been ‘reunited’ by record label Sub-Pop – without a single member of the band being present.
Four members of staff shot a message of support for a US college after a request from a “confused” student who seemed to believe the late Kurt Cobain’s outfit were still in action – and also, apparently, that they were a single female artist.
Sub-Pop revealed the letter sent from Virginia Tech’s “mascot” which read: “We were wondering if Nirvana would send a quick video that we would include in our video collage.
“It presents great publicity for them, and as Virginia Tech loves Nirvana, we’d love to have her in our video.”
The label explain: “We received an enthusiastic message from a college student running for homecoming queen. She asked for a video affirming support from our one time recording artists, Nirvana, in order to aid her campaign in becoming homecoming queen. We dressed up and obliged.
“Video forthcoming with the script: ‘What’s up Virginia Tech? This is Nirvana! Just wanted to wish you guys a Happy Homecoming Week and good luck at the game this Saturday. Let’s go Hoagies!’ Or something like that.”
