Pure Love take their name from the song Sapphire Bullets Of Pure Love by 70s jazz-rock fusionists Mahavishnu Orchestra. (Which’ll no doubt delight Classic Rock‘s own Paul ‘Dr Jazz’ Henderson.) Grab a free download of Pure Love’s track Bury My Bones which, er… isn’t actually jazz-rock-fusion in the slightest.
Track: Pure Love – Bury My Bones
File under: big, hook-filled anthem delivered with blood, sweat and tears. (No wonder the band’s debut album, due in October, is called Anthems)
Singer Frank Carter and guitarist Jim Carroll got together in their adopted hometown of New York at the beginning of last year having decided to form their perfect rock band. Both come from backgrounds in hardcore music – Carter was frontman with the incendiary British band Gallows; Carroll played in US hardcore bands The Hope Conspiracy and The Suicide File.
Talking of their upcoming album, Pure Love state: “We’ve put our blood and sweat into these songs over the past year and it’s the best gift we can give to all those who have waited so patiently for it. This band has been a new beginning for us both and this record is a declaration of life, hope and, of course, love. ”
