Music: Mystery go on a teenage rampage

KIds wanna rock: Mystery

Mystery are a fresh-faced bunch of 14- and 15-year-old Aussies. (Yep, following in the fine tradition of AC/DC, they start them young Down Under.) The band recently played dates in Romania, Croatia, Slovakia and Germany, and on Saturday (July 14) they’re set for a gig at Hollywood’s legendary Whisky-A-Go-Go. If you like no-frills stomp’n'roll played in the style of Twisted Sister, they could be the band for you.

Mystery formed in early 2010 after 13-year-old Rocky Ravic (lead guitar/vocals) met 12-year-old Tony Mlikota (drums) at the concert of Croatian all-female rockers Angels, who were touring Australia.

Ravic was then introduced to 12-year-old Kris Iaccino (rhythm guitar), who was a schoolfriend of Mlikota’s. In the later part of 2010, 12-year-old bassist Josh Scarpaci completed the line-up.

The band began recording their debut album in late 2011, and they’re currently putting the finishing touches to it.

“Mystery intend on making history!” they proclaim. “The future of rock and heavy metal is in good hands!”

…And y’know what? They could very well be right.

Shame on us, but we’ve never heard of the aforementioned all-female rockers Angels before. So, as a bonus, here they are in a bizarre Bend It Like Beckham-style video. Those crazy Croatians!
