Din Machine: DP classic given a mayhemic Metalli-makeover
…And what an amazing version it is too!
Track: Metallica – When A Blind Man Cries
File under: not that we’ve heard all of them yet, but this has surely gotta be the outstanding track from the forthcoming Machine Head tribute album
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich says: “I have a list of songs in my head that Metallica should play before we split up our die… and When A Blind Man Cries has always been one of them.”
Well, all we can say is that Metallica have more than done the DP classic justice. With supremely commanding vocals from James Hetfiled and outstanding guitaring from Kirk Hammett, this is, above all, a respectful rendition. Even so, the mournful feel of the original has been replaced by oodles of intensity – but that’s just fine by us.
Re-Machined: A Tribute To Machine Head is a compilation CD featuring re-interpretations of Deep Purple’s iconic 1972 album with songs recorded by Metallica, Iron Maiden, Chickenfoot, Black Label Society and many more.
