Music: Are you scared of Spiders?
Spiders. As bugs go, rock’n'roll’s been kind to them. Slugs have hardly had a mention. Ear-wigs? Ignored. Wood-lice? Snubbed.
But Spiders? They’ve been one of the coolest backing bands ever. They’ve been some kinda new wave US rockers. They’ve been a bunch of hairy herberts from Liverpool with a line in sub-Status Quo boogie. Most recently they’ve been black and hairy. And now they’re the name of Sweden’s latest rock sensations, “brimming with the energy and raw riffs of the early ’70s, the high-octane three min raunch of Suzi Quatro and The Dictators and enough modern day suss to put any contemporary “stoner’ or “garage band” to shame” (it sez ere).
