Ginger Wildheart has released a video detailing his fun night at the Classic Rock Roll of Honour ceremony last week – and used the light-hearted clip to call for a revolution in the music business.
The video, below, shows Ginger signing autographs, posing for photos then accepting the award for Event of the Year after he achieved 555% of his PledgeMusic fundraising target to bankroll a triple-album.
It also shows host Duff McKagan, Motorhead guitarist Phil Campbell and Ugly Kid Joe frontman Whitfield Crane dancing to Lynyrd Skynryd.
Presenting the award, McKagan asks Ginger: “Just a triple album? Just three? I know how you write songs – we could have had five.”
The Wildhearts mainman explains: “It’s a victory for people who have spoken out against the way the music business is run. You’ve said you want a change.
“We’ve done our little bit to revolutionise the underground – but we still need major artists to revolutionise what’s happening with the mainstream. We need more success stories.”
Ginger raised £250,000 in the Pledge drive and only those who contributed £20 or more received the triple album. A cut-down release of 12 tracks was made available to the public.
